In printing presses, when a letter goes defecient, a rare occurrence; however this does happen; when this exigency does occur, it almost always happens that x is adopted as a substitute for the letter deficient.

Apparently, MS Word has it’s own idiosyncrasies and mood swings. There was this one person, who had a document that refused to number correctly excactly in the fifth section. He had tried copy-pasting the content on to a new document, remove numbering and apply numbering again and retyping the document but to no success. But on X-ing the document for a particular character sets this right. Why?? Ask Bill.
